I started off down the cliff-side path in a hurry to reunite with someone more skilled than me, in case I ran into some trouble. The path was wide enough so that I could run without the fear of falling off the edge, so I ran at a pretty good pace. It was hard, but I hobbled up the ledge as it wound around Mt. Fuere, hoping my friends would be at the other end. The dark mountain had not lost its deathly look, even in the dark. Occasionally I became paranoid of a giant, stray piece of molten lava landing on my head, but the volcano never erupted in such a violent manner. The

What little trail we had became steep and rocky. We were leaving the mountain forest, trading it for a sloping, rocky cliff. Most of the big boulders were round and implanted into the mountain with smaller rocks and stones scattered about, loosely. Some small plants and ferns grew through the rocks and I could even see a few trees sprouting out a little closer to the base. We had reached a good height on the mountain, far beyond the plain below, and now we were attempting to walk around it to the other side, opposed to climbing right over the peak.
